How to Tell If Your Phone Is Unlocked

Unlocked means your phone can work with Honey Mobile or any phone company. Locked means it only works with the company you bought it from (for example, Verizon or AT&T).

Pick the section for your phone below. When you are done, go back to the form and choose Locked, Unlocked, or Unsure.

iPhone

This is the method Apple recommends. It only takes a minute.

  1. On your home screen, tap the gray Settings icon (it looks like a gear).
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap About.
  4. Scroll down with your finger until you see Carrier Lock or Network Provider Lock.
If it says "No SIM restrictions" — your iPhone is unlocked. On the form, choose Unlocked.
If you see a company name (such as Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile) — your iPhone is locked. On the form, choose Locked.

Do not see Carrier Lock? Choose Unsure on the form.

Samsung Galaxy

Menu names can vary a little by model.

  1. Tap the Settings app (gear icon).
  2. Tap About phone.
  3. Tap Status information (on some phones this is just called Status).
  4. Look for a line that says Network lock or SIM lock.
If it says Unlocked or Off — choose Unlocked on the form.
If it says Locked or shows a company name — choose Locked on the form.

Cannot find Network lock or SIM lock? Choose Unsure on the form.

Google Pixel

Pixels do not show unlock status as clearly as iPhones. Where you bought the phone is often the best clue.

  1. If you bought it from the Google Store or google.com — it is almost always unlocked. Choose Unlocked on the form.
  2. If you got it from a phone company (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and so on) — it may still be locked. Call that company and ask if your Pixel is unlocked.

Optional check in settings:

  1. Tap Settings, then About phone.
  2. Tap SIM status.

When in doubt, choose Unsure on the form.

Choosing Unsure is perfectly fine. We will follow up if we need to.
