How to Tell If Your Phone Is Unlocked
Unlocked means your phone can work with Honey Mobile or any phone company. Locked means it only works with the company you bought it from (for example, Verizon or AT&T).
Pick the section for your phone below. When you are done, go back to the form and choose Locked, Unlocked, or Unsure.
Easiest way (any phone)
If you would rather not dig through settings, this is the simplest option.
- Call the phone company you pay today (the number is on your bill).
- Ask: "Is my phone unlocked so I can use it with another company?"
- They can tell you yes or no. Write it down, then pick Locked or Unlocked on the form.
iPhone
This is the method Apple recommends. It only takes a minute.
- On your home screen, tap the gray Settings icon (it looks like a gear).
- Tap General.
- Tap About.
- Scroll down with your finger until you see Carrier Lock or Network Provider Lock.
Do not see Carrier Lock? Call your phone company, or choose Unsure on the form.
Samsung Galaxy
Menu names can vary a little by model. If these steps do not match your phone, use the "Easiest way" above and call your phone company.
- Tap the Settings app (gear icon).
- Tap About phone.
- Tap Status information (on some phones this is just called Status).
- Look for a line that says Network lock or SIM lock.
Cannot find Network lock or SIM lock? Call your phone company, or choose Unsure on the form.
Google Pixel
Pixels do not show unlock status as clearly as iPhones. Where you bought the phone is often the best clue.
- If you bought it from the Google Store or google.com — it is almost always unlocked. Choose Unlocked on the form.
- If you got it from a phone company (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and so on) — it may still be locked. Call that company and ask if your Pixel is unlocked.
Optional check in settings:
- Tap Settings, then About phone.
- Tap SIM status.
- If you are unsure what the information means, call your phone company instead of guessing.
When in doubt, call your phone company, or choose Unsure on the form.
Still not sure?
- Call your current phone company and ask if your phone is unlocked.
- Or choose Unsure on the registration form. Our team will help you before activation.
Choosing Unsure is perfectly fine. We will follow up if we need to.
